The Restore from Backup procedure in ThinkWave Administrator can be
used to restore the Administrator datafile to a previous state. To
use the Restore function, you need to have created a backup already,
using the Backup procedure. Important: If you are using ThinkWave
Administrator in a configuration where data is stored on a MSDE (or
SQL server) on a remote computer (i.e. working over a LAN), then it
is necessary to be physically located at the computer where the data
is stored, to restore from backup.
Access the Restore interface by clicking on File|Restore while
Administrator is running, or by right-clicking on the name of the
appropriate file in the Open Database screen.
| File|Restore |
Right-click Open Database |

Restore Database Screen:

Click on the button to select the location of the backup file using
the Restore from File screen.
Restore from File

Select the folder where your backup is located, and single-click on
the backup file you want to restore from. Click Open.
In the Restore Backup screen, click OK. During the Restore from
Backup process, you may need to type in the password for the
ThinkWave ID you are using; and in some cases, youll be required to
input the SA password for the MSDE or SQL you are utilizing.
Restoring to a New Computer
If you need to restore a datafile onto a computer different from the
one that created the backup (i.e. if you need to move the database
to a new computer, or if you need to recover from a serious computer
malfunction which requires reinstallation of operating system, etc.)
then youll need to perform some additional steps.
o First, create use the File|New function of Administrator to create
a new datafile. The new datafile must have the exact same database
name as the old datafile, and must be created under the exact same
ThinkWave ID as the previous datafile.
o After you have created the new datafile, open it and use the
File | Restore from backup function to restore the backup data to
the new database.
Additional Information
If you are using your own, previously licensed copy of MS SQL Server
to store Administrator data, you use advanced backup and Restore
from Backup options using the SQL Server Manager application. Please
see your SQL documentation for further details.
