Overview

There are two methods you can use to work with your ThinkWave Educator data file in 2 or more different locations. You can transport the data file to another location either via floppy disk or, if you can access your email from multiple locations, you can email your data file to yourself.

It is important that you have the same version of Educator running on all of your systems (To see what version of Educator you are using, go to Help | About). When you upgrade versions on one system, make sure you do the same to the other systems.

To transport via floppy:

* Before exiting the program, you should backup your file. Choose File | Backup. Make sure the Compress before backing up box is checked. If you are backing up to a floppy, make sure a floppy disk is in the port and that you select the floppy port directory (usually A: ) in the file name field. Click Backup Now, eject the floppy, and you're on your way.
* When you arrive at your destination and want to work on the file, insert the floppy, open up ThinkWave Educator, and go to File | Restore from backup. Make sure the floppy directory is selected.

If you are planning to email your compressed data file to yourself, please do the following:

* Before exiting the program, you should backup your file. Choose File | Backup. Put a convenient location in the file name field (like your desktop). Make sure the Compress before backing up box is checked, then click on Backup Now.
* Now open up your email application. Attach the compressed backup (it is in the location you specified in the file name field above and should have the suffix ".bak") and email it to yourself. Regular educator data files (with suffix ".twe") are too large to send via email.
* When you arrive at your destination, and want to access the data file, open up your email application and look for the email you sent yourself. Select that email, and go to File | Save Attachments. (It is recommended that you save to your desktop.) Then open up Educator, and choose File | Restore from backup, making sure you choose the location (e.g. your desktop) of the attachment you just saved.

Important Publishing note:

If you are planning to work on your data file at both locations and publish from both locations routinely, you should: go to the Web Screen in Educator. Click on the Show Account Info button. Click on the Advanced button. Make sure you check the box labeled "Force the next upload to retransmit all data" if the box is selectable.
