Assalamualikum alaikum, 

      I hope everyone is safe and healthy InshaAllah. For this week parents are requested to start Unit E, Chapter 1, Allah Loves Kindness with their kids. Students can then answer questions on page 62 from the workbook. 
     Please continue working on Salah with your kids. Memorize Salah and five daily prayers names. Help them make Wudu so they can revise and retain the steps of Wudu.  MAP Sunday school is also offering 'Lion Hearted Muslims' by Noor kids. We all have access to all their videos and fun activities now. I'm attaching the link here. Please try to benefit from this resource.

     Please work on Salah at home. Help them make Wudu. Revise the five daily prayers name. Memorize Salah at home.

Assalamu alaikum, 

       I hope everyone is doing well. With the Sunday school closure due to the current situation, we are hoping parents will work with their children for one hour each week for Islamic studies. Parents can read Unit D, Chapter 4, Beautiful Makkah The Holiest City, with your kids. Please talk to them about the significance of this holy city for us. After reading the chapter, students can answer the questions on page 57 from the workbook. 
       Please continue working on Salah at home. Help them revise and retain the steps of Wudu by helping them make Wudu with you. Ask them the five daily prayers names. Assalamu alaikum, 

      This Sunday we covered Unit D, Chapter 3 Eid Mubarak. We discussed how Muslims celebrate two Eids every year. 
       In Salah we revised Salah and we also started memorizing the dua after rising from Ruku, "Samee Allahu leeman hameeda Rabbana walakal hamd". 
 

Homework: 

        Students have to cover pages 52, 53 and 55 from the workbook. Students also have to memorize the dua after Ruku.

Assalamu alaikum, This Sunday we had modified class timings due to Senior jeopardy. Students who were absent for the test last week took their test. And I also repeated the test for Salah. We covered Unit D, Chapter 2 Assalamu Alaykum. Homework: Students have to cover pages 50 and 51 from the workbook. Students must practice Salah at home.

Assalamu alaikum, Today we had the test. We did the written and Salah part of the test. Students also worked on Fairness worksheets in class and we talked about how we should all be fair. Homework: Students must work on Salah from Takbeer to Ruku. They will get another chance to improve their grade next week and I will repeat the Salah part of the test for students who still need to work on it.

Assalamu alaikum, This Sunday we started Unit D, Chapter 1, My Muslims Brothers and Sisters. I checked their study guide and we revised it in class. We also revised Salah. From Takbeer to the dua in Ruku. Homework: Students have to cover page 49 from the workbook. Students also must prepare for their test from the study guide. Salah from Takbeer to Ruku will also be part of the test. We will have our test next week 2-23-2020.

Assalamu alaikum, This Sunday we covered Unit B, Chapter 6 Sahabah. This was the last chapter on Unit B. I handed out a study guide to the students and we worked on answering all the questions in class. Students have to prepare these questions for the test we will have on Feb. 23. Homework: Students have to answer questions on page 35 from the workbook. Students must also prepare for the test from the study guide. In Salah they will be tested from Takbeer to the dua in Ruku. Assalamu alaikum, This Sunday we covered Unit B, Chapter 5 Muhammad (S) Becomes a Prophet. I also returned their test to them. We memorized Salah from Takbeer to Ruku. At the end of the class we had Muslim 360. And the virtue for this month is Fairness. Homework: Students have to cover pages 33 and 34 from the workbook. They also have to memorize Salah. Most kids know Surah Fateha. And know a short Surah. Please practice with them at home. We are now memorizing the dua for Ruku. Subhana Rabbi al Azeem. Assalamu alaikum,

       This Sunday we covered Unit B, Chapter 2. In Salah we have started working on Qiyam. We practiced saying Surah Fatiha and then a short Surah in class. Please help them practice at home. 

       This Sunday we had a shorter class as the kids had Muslim 360 at the end of class. The virtue of the month is Responsibility.

Homework:

Students have to cover Pages 24, 25 and 27 from the workbook. Students have to practice Salah at home.

Assalamu alaikum,

       This Sunday we had the test. One student came up with a great idea and brought a Sadaqah jar for the entire class. All the kids were very excited to get it and it can be very useful in helping kids understand the concept of charity. 

       Some kids still need to work on Takbeer and Thana and starting Salah (that was the part from Salah in our test). There is no homework this week and students just need to memorize them and they will get a chance to improve their scores in Salah. Any student who was absent can take the test on 1-12-2020, that is also the last week of this semester. Thank you.

Assalamu alaikum, This Sunday we covered Unit B, Chapter 1, His Name Was Muhammad. Students who brought their projects also presented it in class. I handed out a study guide for the test we will have after the winter break. We played a game to practice all the questions from the test. Homework: Students have to cover the Exercises on Pages 22 and 23 from the workbook. Students will have their test on January 5, 2020. Test will be from the study guide that the kids have.( I have attached a link to the study guide below) They will also be tested on starting Salah with Takbeer and memorizing Thana (Subhana Kallahumma...) the complete day. Kids who have not submitted their project please bring it next week. We covered Unit C, Chapter 5 I Love Ramadan. In Salah we memorized Subhana Kallahumma..... Please help practice at home. Homework: Students have to cover Page 46 from the Workbook. Anyone who did not do their project must finish it this week and bring it on December 15. Assalamu alaikum, This Sunday we covered Unit C, Chapter 3 Wudoo Makes me clean. We revised the steps of Wudu. We also practiced for our class presentation for the assembly. All the kids did a great job MashaAllah. We also started memorizing Salah and talked about what is Takbeer and started Thana, “ SubhanaKalaHumma Wa Bi Humdika....” Homework: Students have to cover Page 42 from the workbook. They also have to start memorizing Thana. Project: Students have to start working on their first project. The project is due on or before Dec 8. Their project will be from the five pillars of Islam. They have to pick one topic from Shahadah, Salah, Sawm, Zakat or Hajj. Then present it on a construction paper, a poster or any paper. They must state five facts about their chosen topic. Assalamu alaikum, This Sunday we revised the chapter on the five pillars of Islam. We covered Unit C, Chapter 2 I love Salah. We talked about why it is important to pray everyday. Students got their tests back and anyone who had not received their report cards also got their report cards. Next Sunday 11/17/2019 students will be performing the five pillars of Islam in the assembly. We practiced their lines in class and will also practice in class next week. Homework: Students have to do page 41 from their workbook.

This Sunday I was out of town and Sr. Serpil took the class. ‘This Sunday we covered unit C,chapter 1.We talked about 5 pillars of Islam .we repeated shahadah several times and also explained Salah,sawm,zekah,hajj.with all students we wrote 5 pillars of Islam. In the second part we listened our monthly theme “being thankful”.we gave them their report card too. Homework: Kids need to cover page 38,39,40 from worksheet book

Assalamu alaikum, This Sunday we had our test on Wudu and five daily prayers’ names. Most of the kids did very well. Some kids however still need to work on it and I will test them again next week. If you want to know how much your kid scored and want your child to improve his/her grade please email me and I can test them again. The idea is to help them practice and memorize the basics. Next week October 27 will be the last day for retesting as I have to submit the grades after that. Homework: Please make sure your child has covered everything from Unit A in the workbook. Next week we will be starting the next unit. Students can also work on the Honesty sheets. We worked on one of them in class, the rest they can do at home. My email is sidrasyed2003@yahoo.com

Assalamu alaikum, This Sunday we covered Unit A Chapter 2, Guidance for the Truth. We have now finished Unit A. Students were handed out worksheets in class today that is also their first test. Please encourage your kids to find answers from the book. This is the first test and to let them have a feel of how the tests will be I am sending the sheets home. Our test in the future will be in class. Homework: Students have to finish the worksheets given to them. Their test grade will be based on it. They Salah part will be done in class. They will be asked the five daily prayers’ names. And the steps of Wudu in order starting with Niyyah and Bismillahi...... Muslim 360: Last week a new pilot program was started in school. The theme for this month is Honesty. Each week they will be given something to do. If they finish the task they will get a sticker and after they have 3 stickers, they will pick a prize. This is optional and not a part of their homework.

Assalamu alaikum, This Sunday we covered Unit A, Chapter 6. We talked about how we are all Believers. In the second half of the class the program Muslim 360 was started this Sunday and the theme for the month of October is Honesty. Homework: Students have to cover Pages 18 & 19 from the workbook. Students will have their first test on October 20th. The test will be from Unit A, Chapters 1 through 6. I will give them a study guide for the test and we will prepare in class next week. There will be multiple choice questions and students just have to check the correct answer (they don’t need to write the answer). The five daily prayers’ names and the Steps of Wudu in order will also be a part of the test. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Assalamu alaikum, This Sunday the class was taken by a substitute. My apologies I was not there for the open house because of some unavoidable circumstances. Unit A Chapter 5 , Thank You Allah was covered in class. Students also practiced Wudu. Homework: Students have to cover pages 16 and 17 from the workbook. Please also practice steps of Wudu with them.

        This Sunday we covered Unit A, Chapter 3. The concept of Shahadah, Oneness of Allah was introduced. We also spent some time memorizing Shahadah and its meaning.

Dear Parents, Assalamu alaikum. My name is Sidra Ali and I am the Level 1 Islamic studies teacher. We started our class with introductions. We also covered Unit 1, Chapter 1 from the book. We talked how everything around us is created by Allah (SWT). Each week we will cover a chapter from the book in the first half of the class. In the second half we will cover Salah. We will start memorizing the Salah in a few weeks InshaAllah. This week we worked on memorizing the five daily prayers names. Homework: Students have to cover Chapter 1 pages 4, 5 and 6 from the workbook. Students also have to memorize the five daily prayers names. Parents are requested to help their kids with them. Also please remind your kids to bring both their Islamic studies books and a pencil with them every week. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Any feedback is also welcome. We have a big class MashaAllah and if anyone is available and willing to help out in the class , it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
