Dear Parents,

Today we discussed how lunar year and lunar months work, compared Islamic lunar months to Jewish lunar months, talked about how to determine beginning and end of an Islamic month by simply looking at the shape of the moon. Students should be able to determine the end of Rajab and beginning of Shaban this week by simply looking at the moon. Please work with your child so that he/she can practice what they learned this week.

Test 2: We have been focusing on salah related subjects in the second semester. Our second test will be on these subjects, but it won't be a written test. Instead, I'll ask students to put what they learned this semester into practice by showing how they can perform the required tasks (e.g., pray the first sunnah of Asr prayer). This test is scheduled for April 14th.

Homework for Apr 7th: Study for the upcoming test by reviewing the subjects we learned this semester. In particular, how to pray a fard prayer, weak and strong sunnah prayers, witr prayer, janazah prayer, musafir (travelers) prayer, how to jamm (merge) prayers, how to perform wudu and ghusl.
