Salaam Qur'an7 Parents and Students,

Please ensure your student is finishing memorizing 50 names of Allah, x8 verses of Quran  (due on 12/17) and starting to prepare for End of Semester project (due on 12/10).

- We discussed the importance of working hard (and why?), specific requirements for end of semester projects, and who is within our community.
- Ask your student: are Hindus, Christians and Jews considered part of the community?

Homwork: kids are supposed to read the material for the jeopardy, participation is mandatory. the qualification round will be graded and marked as the homework for that week.

Assalam alikm dear parents, In class room,we recited Surah al-ma'un (we have four weeks to memorize Surah al-ma'un).In noorani qaida we did practice lesson#9.In Arabic for begginers we did page # 19 and 20. For homework : start memorizing Surah al-maun,In noorani qaida practice page#17 and 18(line 1).In Arabic for beginners,write center line combine words e.g: RUZIQAT etc in another note book. Today we did the lesson on Zakat and completed the HW pages in class. The homework assigned this week is to study for the junior jeopardy quiz which will be administered on 12/03 when students return from Thanksgiving break Insha Allah. The study material can be found on the MAP Sunday Sunday School website. 

We did the prayer times quiz, and the results from that quiz will be uploaded online this week Insha Allah

Assalamu alaikum, This Sunday we covered Lesson # 10, Zakat. We also watched a short video about Zakat and helping the needy. In Salah we continued memorizing Subhana Kallahumma...... MashaAllah some kids have memorized the whole dua. Homework: Students have to answer the questions at the end of Lesson 10 Zakat on pages 55,56. Students also need to memorize Subhana kalla humma...... Next Sunday we will move to the next step in Salah. Test: Students will have their second test from lessons 6-11 on December 17, 2017. They will also be tested on Thana (Subhana kalla Humma....) and Surah Fatiha from Salah. Project : Students have their first project due by December 17, 2017. They can select one of the 5 pillars of Islam and write 5 facts about it. They just have to present it on paper as their project and read the facts in front of the class.

This week we studied the letter Daal.  Although only half of the class was in today, we had a test on Surah Al-Ikhlas. Whoever missed todays test, I will let them take it on December 3rd inshaAllah.  We are going to learn Al-Kawthar starting from December 3rd.

Arabic: Practice recitation and memorization of Surah Ash-Sharah (Ayah #3&4) with translation and words to know with meaning (hardship, relief) We are going to write a paragraph in the class about the hardship in the life of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Weekly Update for Islamic Studies 6 - 11/19/2017

Dear Parents,

Today we played our Kahoot game which included questions from the last three chapters as well as questions from Salah. Every student received bonus points towards their homework grades based on the number of questions they got correct as well as their rankings. 

In the second part of the class, we introduced the concepts of "mono-theism", "poly-theism", and "a-theism" and covered lessons 8 and 9 (Noah (AS) and Dawud (AS)). 

Homework for Dec 3: Read lesson 9 (Dawud (AS)) and answer questions at the end of the lesson.

Assalamu Alaikum: Today we started learning about the last four verses of Surah Al-Hashr. I will continue explaining the importance of learning the beautiful names of Allah (SWT) in next few classes and also the meaning of the names that are contained in the last 3 ayat.

I handed over HW #5 (also attached). The instructions on the top of the printed HW sheet are not clear; please review the instructions on the attached doc.

There is no school next Sunday due to Thanksgiving break. HW 5 is due on Dec 3 (after returning from the break).

Salam, We had a Noorani Qaida (lesson 14)test today. Students who missed it today have another chance to do next time. We reviewed all duas, next week we will have a quiz on duas. Duas are سبحان الله الحمد الله يرحمك اله استغفرالله الله اكبر سمع الله العظيم توكل الله Arabic: page 81-87 H.W: page 85,86 Quran: surah Al- Adiyat (1-8) This is our third week of doing this Surah. Kids have two more weeks until test. If they will not practice it every week it will be very hard for them to memorize 11 Ayyahs for test so please have them memorize 3 or 4 given ayyahs every week.

- We discussed some of names/ attributes of Allah from Surah Al-Nisa and discussed the importance of serving the communities we live in.
- Ask your student: what is the reward of the person who sincerely greets others with As-Salaam-u-Alikum?

Assalam alikm dear parents, In Class room: we had done lesson #9(1-8) from noorani qaida,in Arabic we did page #18,in Quran, I had take test of Durood sharif (dua" ALLAHUMME salli...") mostly students had memorize but some of them still not memorized so I will take test of them again on next Sunday and we also revised name of Islamic months in class. In Homework: practice lesson #9(1-8) in noorani qaida,practice page# 18 in Arabic and revised all months name. (Project due on next Sunday which was already explain on previous mail) JazakaAllah Faryal

Weekly update for November 12,2017

Dear Parents, 

This week we studied the letter Khaa.  I told them a story about three sisters on the letter Jeem, Haa , Khaa. I printed out Masjid and praying girl/boy figures and they colored it by playing this story. All students were enjoyed. We also continued practicing surah Al-Ikhlas.

Homework: Review the letter Khaa, trace, color and write.  We will have a test on Surah Al-Ikhlas next week. Make sure your child practicing enough on memorizing. Some of the students still need improvement on writing letters.  Please make sure that your child writes letters many times until to get better. Lastly, if your child missed any assignments, let them bring it to the class. So, I will update grading.

There will be test on November 19th,2017 from chapter 5-9. Students need to  the study the content from the chapter.

The oral test of the dua will be the following week of the test.

Today we did lesson on Sawm the third pillar of Islam. The homework pages are 53, 54

For salah lesson today we did lesson on times of salah. The kids will have a quiz on this next week Insha Allah. They need to practice drawing a line from the salah to the time of day we pray that salah. This is the activity we did in class and all the kids seem to know this well.

Weekly Updates for November 12, 2017

Assalamu Alaikum, 

Students delievered the Surah Al-Alaq presentations this past Sunday. I will hand them presentation grades on this coming Sunday (inshallah).

We are now entering Quarter 2 (Fall Semester) and are at week 10. We are one week behind our lesson plans but I plan to catch up (inshallah). This coming Sunday, I will introduce last four verses of Surah Al-Hashr and we will also start the recitation. Over next few weeks, we will review the meaning of the beautiful names of Allah (SWT) that are included in last 3 verses of Surah Al-Hashr. 

Please continue to listen to your children recite Surah Al-Alaq (from memory) at least once a week. Children have worked very hard to memorize this surah and we don't want them to forget it.

Dear Parents,

Today we reviewed last week's lesson (Compilation of Hadith) and covered the following subjects on Salah:

  • Types of Salah (Page 18 of Salah Book)
  • Things (feraid) we have to do before salah
  • Things (feraid) we have to do during salah
  • How to pray a 3-raqah fard prayer

Homework for Nov 19th: We will do Kahoot game on the topics we covered recently. Most of the questions will come from Salah, Compilatin of Hadith, and Shadah. However, there might be a few questions from previous chapters as well. This should give the students a chance to review their notes. Students will receive bonus points towards their homework based on their performance. If your child has a smart phone or tablet please send it with your child. We will need it for this game.
