We are embarking on yet another unit in Nevada History. Students will be delving into mid-19th Century Nevada. Students will be looking at the Gold Rush and the Silver boom and how that shaped our state, and how mining continues to be a major industry here. The unit will serve as a prelude for our field trip on December 17 when we head to the McCaw School of Mines in Henderson. Look for a permission slip in your e-mail over the next week. If you do not receive that permission slip by Wednesday, please drop me an e-mail. If you could print out that permission slip and either scan it and send it, or send it with your child, that would be greatly appreciated. I will need those before your child can go on the trip.
For homework this week, students will be researching the development of Virginia City, Nevada. Students will be answering the following questions:
1) Where is Virginia City, Nevada?
2) When and after what discovery was it founded?
If you have any questions regarding the homework or any of the assignments, please feel free to write me an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
