This past week, students wrote letters to federal lawmakers regarding their bills that they are going to submit to E-Congress. Students conducted research on Senate and House committee members. They chose a Senator or Representative who was a ranking member of the committee that would consider their bill if they were submitting it to Congress. They then wrote a letter to that member asking them questions about details of the bill. Following peer and teacher review, students will submit their letters to the lawmakers later this week.
Parents should be able to access those letters on Google Drive. Be sure to check those out!
For homework this week (Monday), students will be answering the following question:
1) What is meant by a "ranking" member of a Senate or House committee?
2) Given your knowledge gained from question number one, \who is the ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee? (Go to senate.gov to find out).
