Students in U.S. History will be celebrating African-American history month by doing a project that focuses on four notable movers and shakers of African descent. Students will be learning about African-American leaders from Frederick Douglas to Andrew Young and Soujourner Truth to Barack Obama. We will start by going to the African-American timeline and picking out an African-American leader from each time period, (Pre-Civil War Era, Post Civil War Era, Civil Rights Era, Modern Times). Students interested in researching a subject of interest beforehand can go to http://www.pbs.org/wnet/aaworld/timeline.html and pull up the timeline on the subject.
Students will be completing their projects over the next seven days and will start on their presentations March 1. There should be a rubric in your child's drive by Wednesday.
