Parents: PLEASE do not send your child to PACE if he/she is ill. We have sent several students home today. Call the office at 919-933-7699, so we can document symptoms and monitor the effectiveness of our flu procedure.
Today's illness (vomiting, dizziness, and fatigue) has resulted in students & staff being sent home.
ADDITIONALLY, FLU SEASON IS WIDESPREAD. If you are sick, or if you think you are sick, do not come to PACE and spread your germs. The CDC has identified widespread reports of flu in North Carolina.
What is the flu? (for additional information, please visit: http://www.flu.gov)
Seasonal flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by flu viruses. It spreads between people and can cause mild to severe illness.
Most experts believe that you get the flu when a person with the flu coughs, sneezes, or talks and droplets containing their germs land in your mouth or nose. You can also get the flu by touching a surface or object that has the flu virus on it and then touching your mouth, eyes, or nose.
Most healthy adults can infect others one day before symptoms develop and five to seven days after symptoms appear.
What are the symptoms of the flu?
- A 100 F or higher fever or feeling feverish (not everyone with the flu has a fever)
- A cough and/or sore throat
- A runny or stuffy nose
- Headaches and/or body aches
- Nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea (most common in children)
If you have been diagnosed with the flu, please contact PACE at 919-933-7699.
