Good morning families!
Just letting you know that we are having email problems today. I also left my computer at home today, so forgive any writing mistakes as I am composing this on my phone. I can't access school email this morning. Not sure when it will be fixed. Quick notes:
-Ruby has her birthday this weekend! I can't access my email for details, but reach out to other parents if you need more info!
-We have our harvest party on Monday. It will be after lunch. Kids can wear costumes all day. We just ask for no masks, demons/devils, and no weapons. If you can bring a small snack to share, that will be fantastic!
-There is a vocab quiz next Wednesday. Kids were given a list earlier this week.
Have a great day!
Mr. Buschelmann

Good Morning all,
For some reason, my school email got locked out over the weekend. I am going to try fix it today, but I currently don't have access to my @schillingschool.org adress. Please send any urgent emails to my prefessional-personal email: frankabuschelmann@gmail.com. I will email everyone once I get this sorted out.
Wish me Luck!

3rd and 4th grade science students are starting to brainstorm an end of the year research topic. They will put together either a powerpoint or poster about a scientific topic of their choice. Examples can include how a certain technology works, the life cycle of a certain animal, or a major theory such gravity. Topics are wide open, and students are encouraged to research a topic that they are interested in.
We will work on researching these topics in class over the next couple of core days, and will begin putting together presentations late next week. More details will be forth coming as we continue to work on this project.

In exercize L-2 (pages 112-113), there are a couple of oddities.
1. The exposition of the problem speaks of 6 events, but there are only 4 in the diagram at the bottom of the page. Read 4 instead of 6!
2. It refers to a mysterious "figure 1-3'. Take that to mean the third diagram at the bottom of the page.

Hello, wonderful students! Here is a delicious new assignment for you!
1. Read the "Origin" section of the Wikipedia article on Passacaglia.
2. Listen to the passacaglia part of this (it wouldn't hurt you to listen to the fugue part, as well!):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuAYn9wfWuo
3. Write a Passacaglia.
This assignment will be due on April 3, 2020.
(For April 1, write an opera in Wagnerian style, based on the story, "Goldilocks and the Three Bears")
Flourish and be happy! Doctor Bowen

For next Tuesday, 3/31, write a "My Ideal Society" paper. In this paper you should describe an ideal (or at least optimal) society. You are not required to describe how this society might come about, but it should be possible; for example, it should not be incompatible with human nature, and in general, it should not require any miracles. You are entitled to your view of human nature, but if it is not consistent with positions you have held in your other papers, you should say so. It should also be consistent with your ethics -- it seems reasonable to suppose that the behaviors required to maintain an ideal society are morally permissible, or perhaps even obligatory. If consideration of the ideal society leads you to modify your ethics, you should say so, so that your overall philosophy remains consistent. THIS IS NOT A DEBATE! YOU WILL NEVER BE PENALIZED FOR CHANGING YOUR MIND ON ANY TOPIC! THE ABILITY TO CHANGE YOUR MIND (FOR GOOD REASONS!) IS A SIGN OF MATURITY AND INTELLIGENCE!
Your description of your society should include a brief description of the following:
1. The political system. Who, or what institution, holds power? Who makes laws, who enforces them, and how do we judge whether someone has broken the law? Exception: you may take the anarchist option, but then you should explain how your society deals with the sorts of issues that are normally dealt with by government.
2. The economic system: How are resources produced, distributed, and consumed?
3. the culture: what are the fundamental values of the society, and how are they propagated?
If you have any questions, please write to me at Schill.phil.class@gmail.com .
Please send copies of this to me and to all other members of the class, so that we can comment on it. Thank you!

Hello, wonderful students!
Facebook is systematically frustrating me, so I am going to describe your assignments in this message.
On 3/19/20, each of you should have the first half of their fugue done. It should fit the outline (subject, episode, etc.) that you proposed earlier. Don't submit them via Thinkwave, which has become my mortal enemy, email them to physis_asparagus@yahoo.com.
Then, on 3/26, you should have your fugues complete, according to your outline.
All this work should be done in MuseScore!
Also, you should listen to 2 further fugues by 3/26.

OK, starting on Tuesday, 3/17, the school building will be closed, at least until 4/5, but we can continue over the internet. I will give assignments on Thinkwave. Please share your emails with each other, and when you turn in an assignment, send it not only to me, but to all the other students. When you receive a student's work, send a comment to me and to all the other students. I will also send comments to all, but your grade on assignments will still be confidential. I will instruct you to listen to specified music during the equivalent of class time. Instead of lecturing, I will assign reading. In this way we can proceed pretty much as before.

Good Evening Parents of K-2 Music!
Your beautiful students will be participating in the Schilling Talent Show on March 24th at 6:00pm. They are performing Hand Chimes and Vocals. They have been practicing so hard! I am so proud of them. If you have a conflict and your child cannot attend the concert, I need to know as soon as possible because the Hand Chime they are assigned to play will need to be reassigned to another child. Every child is important but we understand if you have alternate plans. Please let me know as soon as possible if you child will or will not be attending by cutting the permission slip and returning to Mrs. Mullert by February 21, 2020.
Please have students wear something nice looking. No hats please. Please have your students arrive by 5:30pm. The show begins at 6:00pm. If you have questions, please email me at JMullert@schillingschool.org.
Bless your fantastic students!
Mrs. Mullert
