Assalamu alaykum parents, I hope you and your family are doing well.
This Sunday the first class 11-12 will be Islamic studies. After lunch, the students will attend the senior Quran competition in the main prayer room. There is no Quran class this Sunday.
We are going to have our end of year Quran/arabic test on May/10th and a makeup test on May/17th.
The test will cover all the material that the kids learned over the year, but it will be simple and they will be fine if they review and study the exam study guide. It will be a good opportunity to get the material stick in their minds while they are heading to summer break and starting level 2 in the Sunday school, in shaa Allah. May Allah bless them for you and reward you on your efforts and care!
Jazakum Allah khair.

Last Sunday:
1. We learned the meaning of Allah names, Al-Latif(اللطيف):     Al-Lateef (ٱللَّطِيف): Allah is very kind and gentle, even in ways we don’t see.
For that we learned briefly the story of prophet Yusuf(ع), when he was young around 10 years old ( same their age), he was a very good Muslim, kind to everyone, but his 10 older brothers were very jealous of him and decided to throw him in a well so their father start loving them more(as they think). And they did, the well was very deep and dark, with snakes and scorpions. Yusuf did not loose trust in Allah, made duaa, and Allah sent people to get water from that well. And they got him out, he went to Egypt, and grew up to be a minister with a lot of wealth and power. So it might seem bad that he was in the well, but Al-Latif gave him better than what he could achieve had he stayed with his father.
Al-Mujeeb (ٱلْمُجِيب): Allah is the One who listens and answers our prayers. We talked about the three ways of answering duaa: either getting what you want, preventing bad things from happening to you, or giving what you want and more in Jannah . we should remember Allah at comfort and ease so Allah remembers us at hardship.
2.We learned the importance of being THANKFUL to Allah in our life. We listened to the story of prophets DAVID(داؤود) and Sulayman(سليمان), how they were thanking Allah for even the simplest things in their life, and Allah gave them a lot: they were kings, prophets, David (ع) could do many things with his hands like wood sticks for hunting and killed the king of giants by it, and he could use IRON to make weapons just like a play dough. Sulayman(ع): could talk to animals/ ants/had flying rug, and jinn as slaves who do anything for him like go under the see and bring him jewels.
3.we talked about honoring and respecting your parents, thank them, be gentle to them, kissing their hands is a good practice. Then we mentioned a story of a man who had old-aged parents and kids, one day he was trapped in a cave by a big rock, he made DUAA to Allah with the best thing he did in life so Allah may save him. So he said one day I collected milk from my sheep and came home, I stood at the bedroom door for hours with the milk in my hand and waited for my parents to wake up and drink from the milk even though my kids were crying from hunger and wanted to drink it. And Allah ordered the rock to move away. I asked them to always remember Allah even if they are at ease, so Allah remembers them in hardship.
4.Arabic: we learned how to connect three or four letters to make a word and how to break a word into letters.
5.we reviewed all the Surahs in the curriculum.
I would like you to review all of this with them as part of the homework for this week. It will come on the test.
Homework for this week , before coming to Sunday school:
1. Review MEMORIZATION of Surah: Al-Fatiha, Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, Al-Nas, Al-Kawthar, Al-Nasr, Al-Kafiroon, Al-Massad, Quraysh, Al-ASR.
2. Review the general meaning of level 1 Surahs ( I sent it before on this group chat).
3. review the meaning of Allah names:
Al-Naseer (ٱلنَّصِير): Allah is the One who always helps and supports us.
* Al-Tawwab (ٱلتَّوَّاب): Allah is the One who always accepts our “sorry” when we make mistakes.
* Al-Mu’min (ٱلْمُؤْمِن): Allah is the One who gives us safety and makes us feel secure.
* Al-‘Aẓeem (ٱلْعَظِيم): Allah is the One who is the greatest and most amazing.
*     Al-Lateef (ٱللَّطِيف): Allah is very kind and gentle, even in ways we don’t see.
* Al-Mujeeb (ٱلْمُجِيب): Allah is the One who listens and answers our Dua’a and prayers.
4. Review all the Arabic letters with your son/daughter.

First grade Surahs meaning

Al-Nasr (النصر): When we succeed, we thank Allah and ask Him to forgive us. That is we don’t brag that it’s because of us, it won’t happen without Allah’s help.

Al-Kafirun (الكافرون): We worship Allah alone and follow our own religion. Those who don’t believe in Allah do not worship the way Muslims do.

Al-Masad (المسد): People who do bad and hurt others will be punished.( speaks about the prophet’s uncle and his wife who were hurting him (ص)and other Muslims, and Allah promised these two to go to hell).

Quraysh (قريش): Allah took care of Quraysh(the tribe of Muhammad PBA) by giving them the best place, Mekka, the best water, Zamzam, and kept them safe, so they should worship Him.

Assalamu Alaykum parents:

I am the new Quran/ Arabic teacher for your son/daughter. Replacing sister Nour. My name is sister Ban.

Last Sunday, we reviewed all the Surahs that we took throughout the year. We also reviewed the (GENERAL) meaning of each Surah.

As a homework for this week: I would like them to review all the Surahs and their meanings as a preparation for the (end of year TEST) that will take place in the beginning of May.

So while many of the kids know the material, there are some who don't know the Surahs well.

Memorization of the Surahs assigned to the first grade is a requirement for graduation to the next level. We are going to work extensively with those who are falling behind, however the parent needs to encourage the student to listen to these Surahs DAILY ( for a maximum of 20 minutes). Also there are free online classes with IMAM Amro, that you can sign up your son or daughter to on the MAP website.

I am attaching a link for each Surah to help your son/ daughter to listen to.

Today we read chapter 20: Our Mosque and answered the questions at the end of the chapter. I really liked this chapter because it discussed etiquettes related to the mosque as well as some general etiquettes such as not wasting water and food, not talking loudly when people are praying, to keep wudu area in the mosque clean and dry etc.

We discussed each rule in detail and I suggest you talk to your children about some other rules to observe both inside and outside the mosque to make Allah SWT happy.

Testing

Assalamualaikum,

The students had a wonderful time at the Eid celebration this past Sunday, Alhamdulillah!

I previously delayed the Surah Ad-Dhuha test so that the students would not have a test during Ramadan. So, the Surah Ad-Dhuha test will be on April 5th, InshaAllah. It will cover topics from the Surah Ad-Dhuha study guide (memorization, meanings of ayas, vocabulary), names of Allah SWT for Surah Ad-Dhuha, and Arabic concepts including: tanween, madd leen, sukoon, and shaddah. Surah Ad-Dhuha will also be the level 4 surah for the Senior Quran Competition InshaAllah.

This coming Sunday, part of the class will be review for the test and then we will also begin Surah Al-Bayyinah (our last surah) since the students already partly reviewed for the test during Ramadan.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Assalamu alaykum parents.
Yesterday in class, we discussed the meaning and importance of (THANKING ALLAH), الشكر.
I tried to attract their attention to :
1. Thanking Allah for anything you get in life, like clean water, food, loving parents.
2. I explained that good things you have are not because of your parents, but in-fact, Allah made them able to do that for you.
3. I told them if you want more in your life, thank Allah, and he will give.
4. I told them the story of prophet Daud ( miracle of working with iron like a play-dough, becoming a king/ prophet)and his son prophet Suleyman( miracle of flying rug with his army, talking to birds and insects, monsters that do anything for him, and being a prophet/ king), all of that was because of always thanking Allah.
5. I asked them to try to commit to thanking Allah every day, for something!
This Sunday no class; I am asking you to help them please listen to Surah Al-Nas 3-4 times on one occasion every day. I also want them to let you know what did they thank Allah for every day.
Lastly: review with them the meaning of the following Allah names:
Al Ahad(الأحد): the only god who is not divided into parts.
Al Samad(الصمد): Allah does not need anything, no food, no air, no sleep. But everyone needs Allah.
Jazakum Allah Khair.
