* In today's class we discussed a few verses from Surah Ar-Ra'd, and the meanings of a few names of Allah: Al-Muta'ali, Al-Muhsi, Ad-Darr, Al-Wali. We spent much time understanding why Allah inflicts punishment
* Ask your student:  why do some people say "Aluhumdu Lillah" when inflicted with punishment?

AS Parents,

This week we have worked on Surah Lahab /Masad for the last time. Some of them memorized the surah masaalah. Next is week the last chance to be completed it. Please help them finish the surah. Then we will be learning Dua Tasahhud .

We are on Lesson 5 from Noorani Qaidah.  Here is the youtube video which we watched in the class. (While your child is reading he / she is not require to specify the name of the vowel. Like Fathatain, kasratain, dhammatain)

Homework: Students have to cover the questions at the end of the lesson on pages 110-111. Project: Students have to do a project on the two holy cities, Makkah and Madinah. They have to write facts about each city and put pictures on them. They can use their own book, any other books or the internet for information. The project is due on April 8, 2018. Today we administered the first test of the semester. Before the test we played a Kahoot game and reviewed the subjects. After the test we went over the questions/answers.

We had great conversations about what kids knew about Angels and also what questions they had on the topic of Angels

For Salah, we revisted the steps of wudu.

Children are making slow progress in memorizing last 3 verses of surah Al-Baqarah. However, we have run out of time and Test 3 will be on next Sunday, March 11 (inshallah). Please help your children to finish memorizing the verses and get ready for test. I have attached the verses they are supposed to memorize.

* Ask your student:  what is the difference between Kabeer, Akbar and Al-Kabeer?

This week we had a little pop quiz from Noorani qaidah lesson 4 and alhamdulillah we have finished lesson 4.

All ayahs of Surah Masad /Lahab was reviewed.  Also talked about the message of the surah as well. Next week (3/11), there will be a pre test from Surah Masad so please help your child to prepare.

HW: Memorize Attahiyat all of it, and second Kalima from Salat book page 29. Students must know 2 rakat Salat by end of this school year. There will be a test on recitation and performance of 2 rakat Salat in end of April TEST 2: There will be a test on ch 14-18. on March 11th. Dear Parents,

Since we have the first test of the semester next week, we dedicated a good portion of the class today to review salah related materials that we covered so far. We also briefly talked about what is halal to eath and what is not (including types of animals and kosher products).

We also covered the subject of Qiyamah (Lesson 19).

Test 1 is next week (Mar 4th): The first test of the semester is next week. I've distributed the study materials to students in the class today. They are also attached to this update as a pdf. Please review them with your child.

Homework for Mar 4th: We have senior jeopardy qualification quiz next week and I'll use that test as the homework for next week. Please make sure your child prepares for the qualification quiz. Study materials are available on our web site. Here is the link:

Assalamu Alaikum:

I listened to children recite last 3 ayah of surah Al-Baqarah (HW #11). Most still need more practice; some of them had not even memorized a single verse yet. Please help and encourage your children to memorize the verses by keep practice reciting them 3 times a day. 

I have set aside next two classes for Test 3 - recitation of last 3 verses of Surah Al-Baqarah from memory. Students can choose whichever day (March 4 or March 11) for taking the test.
