In class on October 23rd, the students continued reciting Surah Al-Qadr from memory and we played a fun game to end the first quarter.

Starting next class, we will begin focusing on Surah At-Teen aya by aya on page 111 of the "A Student's First Guide to Juz'Amma" book and will continue reading Arabic in the Noorani Qa'idah "Master Reading the Quran" book.

If you do not have the two books I mentioned above, please speak to an administrator to get these books as soon as possible, since they are needed for this class.

As I said, I finished testing the students on Surah Al-Qadr. Keep in mind, some students' recitations were not perfect, especially in the last few ayas, but since this is the first test, I was just looking for improvement in their memorization. I will become more strict about their memorization as the year goes on.

In previous classes, I gave the students two worksheets that said to listen to a Quran reciter saying either Surah Al-Qadr or Surah At-Teen twice a day for a week. If your child did not give me both of these worksheets in class, please complete them this week and email the completed worksheets to me at noorb2025@gmail.com so the child can receive credit for these assignments. The first quarter ends soon, so I need these two worksheets from the students by the beginning of next week, or I will have to take points off of their grades for missing homework. In case your child lost the worksheets or you do not know what worksheets I am talking about, I linked them to this message.

Next week is the Seerah Competition at 11 AM in the Marshall Middle School Gym! Here is the link where the students can study:  https://sundayschool.mapitt.org/updates

Email me (noorb2025@gmail.com) if you have any questions or concerns.

In class on October 16th, the students practiced reading Arabic and they practiced reading, memorizing, and understanding the meaning of Quran.

We practiced Arabic reading in Lesson 3 of the Noorani Qa'idah "Master Reading the Quran" book, where the students learned the concept of “madd” and broken/separated letters when reading Arabic and Quran. We also listened to Surah At-Teen and will begin focusing on the surah aya by aya starting next week on page 111 of the "A Student's First Guide to Juz'Amma" book.

If you do not have the two books I mentioned above, please speak to an administrator to get these books as soon as possible, since they are needed for this class.

I also tested the students on Surah Al-Qadr, looking for improvement in their memorization. Since it is the first test, I was simply looking for improvement and not perfection in their recitations, but I will become more strict about their memorization as the year goes on.

While most students chose to recite the surah in class on October 16, I allowed students the option of either reciting the surah in class that day or in the next class, since this is the first test. If your child has not been tested for Surah Al-Qadr yet, please keep practicing since I will test them next week.

The homework is to continue practicing reading Arabic in Lesson 3 and complete the worksheet talked about below.

I gave each student a worksheet for Surah At-Teen where they should listen to a Quran reciter (can be through YouTube for example) saying Surah At-Teen twice a day every day this week, with a parent/guardian signature for each day to verify. If you have not practiced this with your child yet, please start as soon as possible since the point of this worksheet is to encourage students to review this surah every day. This activity will make it much easier for the students to memorize and recite the surah later since it will become more familiar.

I gave each student a worksheet for Surah Al-Qadr where they should listen to a Quran reciter (can be through YouTube for example) saying Surah Al-Qadr twice a day every day this week, with a parent/guardian signature for each day to verify.
