Assalamu alaikum,

This Sunday we had our Salah test. Most of the kids did very well. We also covered Unit B, Chapter 6, 'Sahabah - Friends of the the Prophet'.

Homework:

Students have to cover Page 36 from the workbooks. They were handed out 2 sheets with questions on them. The questions are from Unit B and the students have to answer (write) the questions. That homework is due on March 31st, in 2 weeks. There will be a test from those questions on April 7, so that is also a study guide for the test. Please continue practicing Salah with them. We have started memorizing the dua for Ruku, "Subhana Rabbi ul Azeem".

Parents,

Assalamalaikum,

Students would be presenting in the assembly on March 24th so today's homework is related to students preparing for the presentation on March 24th.

Groups:

Students will present in group of three so in total there would be three groups with each group having three students. Following are the groups:

Group A:

Asma

Hania

Ruha

Group B:

Arsalan

Bilal

Hadi

Group C:

Harris

Jibran

Nameer

Topic:

Each group will decide on the topic that they would present, topic has to be related to Islamic Studies but it is up to the group to decide on the topic that they would like to present.

Time:

Each group will have three minute to present with each group member speaking for one minute. Keeping to this time limit is important as we do not want to delay the assembly and salat prayers.

Presentation:

If students want to use program like PowerPoint or Google Slides to present then that is totally all right. If students just want to give a verbal speech without using any presentation tool like PowerPoint or Slides then that is OK too.

As part of homework students will:

1. Decided on the topic that they would present,

2. The order in which each speakers would speak, and

3. Have some bullet points ready for the topic.

Thanks,

Arshad

Dear Parents,

Today we covered prayer times. We talked about how and why prayer times changes based on the location and time of the year. Then, on a diagram, we showed how we can use the position of the sun to determine the prayer times. Finally, we illustrated the concept in the classroom using various subjects and ligh sources.

In the second half of the class we practiced the steps of various types of prayers using a table. Students filled out the table, their friends veried their answers and then we went over the answers.

Homework for March 17th: Fill out the prayer tables for fard, strong sunnah, and weak sunnah prayers that were handed out in the class.

Dear Parents,

Today we reviewed suratul Mulk 1-20 and Surah Nas to Zilzal.

Homework for Mar 10th: Suratul Mulk 1-21 and memorize from Nas to Zilzal.

Dear Quran 5 Parents,

Assalamu Alaikum:

Today we listened to children recite verses 284- 286 of Surah Al-Baqarah for HW #11. There were only a handful of students who had memorized all three verses; most had memorized the first two but not the last verse. Please make sure to work with your children to memorize the last verse and revise all three as next Sunday is the last day we will listen to students this HW. After that, they can still memorize and we can listen to them but we will not activel ask them, so its completely up to them.

We also handed out HW #12 (Dua Qanut) and it is also attached. Students will have 3 weeks to memorize this dua. Please note that there are two versions of this dua' on the HW but students are only required to memoize one of them. However, if they already know one of the versions, then please encourage them to memorize the other version.

We also asked all students to come up with an idea for a skit based on the translation for Surah Al-Baqarah verses (HW #9-11). The idea could be based on one or more verses from homework assignments.

Best Regards,
