Dear Quran 5 Parents,

Assalamu Alaikum: Today I listened to children recite verses 21 & 22 of Surah Al-Hashr as part of HW#6. I am delighted that most children had worked hard to memorize and recited both verses without many mistakes. Thank you for your support and encouragement.

I handed out the next HW (#7) which is to memorize verses 21 through 23 by next Sunday (also attached with this message). Please continue to help your children.

We also had the following children "auditioned" for the story teller role for the next skit which (the story of first revelation of Surah Al-Alaq in Cave Hira):

Naeema

Alina

Faaris

Children had done a nice job with their stories but need more practice. Since children will also be busy with the Junior Jeopardy game, they can work on the story over winter break and we will have the next audition on Jan 9 (inshallah).

Dear Students and Parents,

As-Salaamu Alaikum. On 12/2/18, we had our service project at the Ronald Mcdonald House in Pittsburgh. It was combined with Sr. Youth due to restriction on number of people in the kitchen at one time so we divided into 2 groups. The 2nd group will go on 12/16/18 insha'Allah. For those who attended the first session, Alhamdulilah it was very successful and insha'Allah very rewarding experience for the students being able to work together as a team to prepare a meal for families who are both emotionally and financially burdened with the unfortunate circumstance of having a sick child in the hospital.

For 12/9/18, class please read Chapter 4 from Footsteps book and use the attached worksheet which is also found in the the Google Drive folder for Jr Youth Group - 12/9/18 worksheet - which all students have access to this folder.

Assalamualaikum Dear Students and parents. CW: We have covered Ruku and Chapter 1 of unit B. We also went over study questions. HW: Learning how to do Ruku and what to recite in it. Unit A take home Test has been given out. Please finish and bring it is due 12/9/18. If due to any reason it can not be finished last day to submit with appropriate reason is 12/16/18.

Dear Quran 5 Parents,

Assalamu Alaikum: Today I listened to children recite verse 21 of Surah Al-Hashr as part of HW#5. I must say that it was disappointing to see most of the children had not done their HW. Children had 2 weeks to memorize this one verse and there is no excuse that they were not able to even if they read it by looking at it only once a day.

I handed out the next HW (#6) which is to memorize verses 21 & 22 by next Sunday (also attached with this message). Please help your children with their HW assignment.

We also started working on the next skit which is the story of first revelation of Surah Al-Alaq (first 5 verses) in Cave Hira. One of the following children will be selected as the story teller:

  • Naeema
  • Alina
  • Faaris
  • Heba

All these children should bring a sample of the story that is at least 1 minute long (the actual story will be 3-5 minutes during the skit). The final selection will be made based on the storyteller's ability to make the story interesting, descriptive (details), appropriate tone of voice, etc. Let me know if you have any questions. The date of this skit is yet to be determined.

Best Regards,

Ishfaq

Dear Parents, Today we covered salah related topics. In particular, we went into details of how to pray, learned names of the positions, learned the duas and their meanings in each position. We also reviewed the study guide I’ve distributed today for the first test of the semester we will administer next week. This study guide is also attached to this update. Since we have a shortened semester due to building closure, we will give two tests back to back. The first test will be from our text book and will cover the four chapters we studied so far. See the attached study guide for the details. This test will be given next Sunday, Dec 9th. The second test will be purely from salah related topics. I’ll give out the study guide for this test next week and this test will be administered on Sunday, Dec 16th. I’ll appreciate if you could spend some time with your kids for the next two weeks and make sure they are ready for the tests. Also make sure they don’t miss school for the next two weeks. We’ll play a game of Kahoot before each test. Therefore, if your child has a tablet or smart phone, please send it with your child to school for the next week. Homework for Dec 9th: Study for the test.
