Salaam parents,

It was nice to meet some new faces today.

All students should now have their book, and a green folder in their backpacks as well as a yellow notebook for note-taking in class. Some students are missing the yellow notebooks, I'll hand them out next week.

We worked on Unit 1: Chapter 2 today and answered questions at the end of the lesson.
We also learned meanings of 2 of the names of Allah and Then we learned the wudu steps.

Please make sure to check your child's green folder every week as it will have homework/study guides etc.

This week the green folder has 2 flash cards we made with the names of Allah in school. The goal is to make one for each name of Allah we will learn and then use them to study at home. I will be putting these names/meanings on their regular tests/quizzes. So please make sure you go over them with your child whenever possible every week. All the flash cards are to be kept in the green folder.

I also sent home a parent contact form in the green folder. Please fill it out and send it back next week. I will be making a whatsapp group just for our class to make communication easier.

Homework this week is to study the wudu steps we went over in class today. They have a quiz next week and I told them the top 2 scores or everyone who gets a perfect score gets to pick a small prize.

Dear Parents,

Assalam alaykum,

We had a fantastic first day at Sunday school, and we’re excited about the year ahead. Here’s a brief recap of what we covered and the homework assignments for next Sunday:

-Classroom Rules and Dress Code

-Syllabus Overview:

Quranic Studies: We will focus on memorizing and understanding the three surahs: Surah Al-Fajr, Surah Al-Ghashiya, and Surah Al-Ala. This includes understanding their meanings and reflecting on their lessons.

Dua’as: Learning and memorizing essential supplications.

Names of Allah: Exploring a selection of the 99 Names of Allah to deepen our understanding.

Arabic Language Skills: Emphasis on strengthening spelling and writing skills.

Presentations: Students will complete four presentations throughout the year. The first presentation, due October 27th, is on "The Miracles of the Quran." They may work in pairs or individually.

Homework Assignments:
Please provide your child with a notebook dedicated to Quran class. Divide the notebook into two sections:

1. Quran: For Quran-related notes and activities.

2. Arabic: For Arabic language practice.

Homework #1: Have your child practice writing their full name in Arabic in the Arabic section of their notebook. We worked on their first name in class, but they may need your assistance with their last name.

Homework #2: Please have your child listen to various Quran recitations on YouTube and choose their favorite reciter. This will help them find a reciter they enjoy and make the memorization process more engaging and enjoyable.

Please ensure the notebook and 'A Student's First Guide to Juz 'Amma' textbook are brought to class next Sunday. If you have any questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out.

Best regards,

Asalam Alaikum Everyone,

You can reach out to me at 517-775-3541 or meesha89@live.com.

Assalamualaikum,

In class on May 5th, the students practiced the first 11 ayas of Surah Al-A'la on pages 66-67 of the "A Student's First Guide to Juz'Amma" book (there is no study guide for this surah; students can practice the memorization and meanings in the "A Student's First Guide to Juz'Amma" book) and practiced reading from lessons 9-13 in the Noorani Qa'idah "Master Reading the Quran" book.

May 12th (next class!) is the date of the final test. To be prepared for the test, students should know the memorization and meanings of the first ELEVEN ayas of Surah Al-A'la (the rest of the ayas will be extra credit), know how to read from Lessons 9-13 in the Noorani Qa'idah "Master Reading the Quran" book, and memorize the the fourth kalimah, kalimatul-tawhid (knowing the meaning will be extra credit).

I have linked the fill-in-the-blank and filled copies of the fourth kalimah (kalimatul-tawhid) study guide to this message. I have also linked a picture that includes the first four kalimahs. For next class, students should know the memorization and meaning of the first three kalimahs for Islamic Studies class, and they should know the memorization and meaning (meaning is extra credit only for the fourth kalimah) of the fourth kalimah for my class.

If any student has not completed the Surah Al-A'la Week 1 Worksheet from last week, next class is the last day to turn in this assignment. I linked the worksheet to this message. There will be no Surah Al-A’la Week 2 Worksheet. Don't forget to have a signature for each day of the week that the student completes this homework, so they can receive full credit! If the student loses the worksheet, they can still complete the assignment: they can just write their name, the name of the assignment, the days of the week, and the signatures for each day on any piece of paper and turn it in.

Please feel free to email me (noorb2025@gmail.com) with any questions.

Al salmu Alaikom parents

we had another week of double Quran period to finish the material.

For next I would need to input grades for Surat al buruj. We will have a test on the full Surah if your child will not be attending please just send me a recording of it so I can put a grade otherwise the admin last time asked me to just input 0 which I don't like to do. I find it to be extremely discouraging for the kids to see that.

also we will have a multiple choice test on the meaning of the Surah. We have been going over it detail in last 3 weeks of class. Please refer to https://quran.com/en/al-buruj. Again if your child will not be in attendance I can send you the test.

last we had a spelling test today on 5 words. Mashalla I've seen much improvement in their ability to spell and write. For those who missed today a makeup will be given next week inshalla.

Next week only will have a test then they can have a fun period Inshaa Allah

Salamu Alaikom dear parents

only few more weeks left of school. Last week we did double Quran since there is not much time left to go through all the material.

ww went over Surat al buruj till ayah 18. Please have them memorize it till there.

in 2 weeks we have our last lesson where we will test in Surat al buruj, the meaning and the spelling of some words

congrats to fabiha, tala and hamza for making Quran competition. For those who did not please know that it was so close and very hard to choose from and they all deserved a spot for their efforts.I had Ms May test them since she was one of the judges. I also tried to give them pointers for next year Inshaa Allah and things that they should work on. A big issue seems to be مخارج الحروفwhich we are hoping that in next years curriculum will be something added on to help the kids.

Assalamualaikum,

In class on April 28th, the students practiced the fourth kalimah, kalimatul-tawhid. I gave them a study guide that also includes the meanings of this dua. I will link the fill-in-the-blank and filled copies of the study guide to this message. They also practiced and presented at the assembly on April 28th: they taught everyone how to make wudu.

Next class, we will continue with Surah Al-A'la. We will finish reviewing the first 11 ayas of the surah In Shaa Allah (so far, we have only reviewed the first 8 ayas in class). There is no study guide for this surah; students can practice the memorization and meanings in the "A Student's First Guide to Juz'Amma" book.

Next class, I will also give the students time to practice reading from lessons 9-13 in the Noorani Qa'idah "Master Reading the Quran" book in groups In Shaa Allah.

May 12th is the date of the final test of this class. To be prepared for the test, students should know the memorization and meanings of the first 11 ayas of Surah Al-A'la (the rest of the ayas will be extra credit), know how to read from Lessons 9-13 in the Noorani Qa'idah "Master Reading the Quran" book, and memorize the the fourth kalimah, kalimatul-tawhid (knowing the meaning will be extra credit).

If any student has not completed the Surah Al-A'la Week 1 Worksheet from last week, please complete it as soon as possible.

Students that have not yet taken the Ayatul Kursi test should take it next class In Shaa Allah.

Please feel free to email me (noorb2025@gmail.com) with any questions.
