In class on November 17th, students took the test on the memorization and meaning of Surah At-Teen and lessons 5-8 in the Noorani Qa'idah book. Students that have not taken the test yet will take it next class Inshallah. 

Students that have not turned in Surah At-Teen Week 1 or Week 2 Homeworks should do so as soon as possible (linked to this message). For both of these assignments, students should either listen to or say Surah At-Teen twice a day every day this week, and a parent/guardian signature is needed for each day that they do this so they can receive credit. 

Next class, we will start Surah Ash-Sharh and continue with more lessons in the Noorani Qa'idah book Inshallah. 

If students do not have either the "A Student's First Guide to Juz'Amma" book or the Noorani Qa'idah "Master Reading the Quran" book, please let the office know so that the student can get these books and be prepared for class.

In class this week we finished chapter 5, including the exercise at the end of the chapter and discussed our answers. 

We also started the duas that have been included in the curriculum. This week we did the duas before and after Wudu. Please make sure that is practiced at home as well 

There will be a quiz/Kahoot on 11/24 based on the Seerah competition materials. Please assure that the students come to class with their phones/iPads/laptops as the quiz is in Kahoot form

1. JUZ AMMA:

we have completed Surah Al Alaq- Please have them continue to review and make sure they are reciting this in salah.

I returned their quiz papers to them- masha Allah they had excellent scores, make sure you review with them for encouragement.

we started Surah Al Layl- we covered first 7 verses

2. TAJWEED: Makharij- we have completed the alphabet.

Many of them have already started implementing improved pronounciation in their recitation.

3. Allahs Names:   الاعلى AL A'LAA (The Most High)

4. Surah presentations:

Izma- Quraysh, Aliza- An Naas, Simra- Al Qadr- loved their posters and how they explained important lessons learned from these surahs. 

Homework:

1. Memorize first 7 verses of Surah Al Layl, with correct Makharij. Listen to their favorite Qari on YouTube.

continue to review Surah Al Alaq.

2. Paint Al A'LAA on canvas with a sentence/drawing showing significance, canvas boards come home today

3. Next Surah presentations due Elhaan- Al Fatiha, Mujtaba- Al Kawthar, poster boards come home today.

they are expected to make a poster about the content/ main themes/ lessons contained in the Surah.

Junior Jeopardy qualifying round happening next Sunday 11/17- have the students prepare using the study materials provided by the school on the main WhatsApp group.

Today we learned about the second pillar: Salat. It's chapter 8 in their book. We also did the questions at the end of the chapter. 
the students did great participating and answering questions. 
We also performed all the steps of Salah as a class together. 

Homework: Salat worksheet that was handed to them today and it's due next Sunday! All answers can be found in Chapter 8 of the book. At the bottom of the worksheet, I have put summarized steps of Salah, the idea is for the parents to review them with the kids and ask them questions about it.

     This Sunday we covered Chapter 7, Early life of Nabi Muhammad (S). Things the kids should remember from this class are Prophet's Father's, Mother's, Grandfather's, Uncle's and Nurse Morher's names. Please go over them with the kids at home. 
     In Salah we covered Salah till the dua for Sujood. MashaAllah most of the kids know it and some are still working on it. 
 

HOMEWORK: 

Answer the questions on pages 63 & 64 from the Islamic Studies book. 
Salah-memorize the dua for Sujood on page 28 in the Salah book.

In class on November 3rd, students finished Surah At-Teen - they practiced the memorization and meanings of ayas 6-8 in the Surah At-Teen Study Guide. The blank and filled out versions of the Surah At-Teen Study Guide are linked to this message. Make sure students always bring the study guide to class since they should follow along and fill in the blanks as we learn new ayas each class. Students also practiced reading in lesson 6 in the Noorani Qa'idah Book. I passed back Surah Al-Qadr tests to students that were in class.

I also gave the students the Surah At-Teen Week 2 Homework (linked to this message). Next class, we will have a review day for Surah At-Teen and practice lessons 7-8 in the Noorani Qa'idah book.

November 17th is the test for Surah At-Teen. It will include the memorization and meanings and background of Surah At-Teen as shown in the study guide, and also lessons 5-8 in Noorani Qa'idah book.

    ***   Presentation 2: "Manners in Islam"  (Due: January 12)  ***

When asked about the character of the Prophet, Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) replied, "His character was the Quran."

Students will write an essay exploring the significance of good character in Islam. They can approach this topic from any angle they prefer, including the importance of good character or the qualities that define it. The goal is to understand how manners and character play a vital role in Islam and reflect on personal values and behaviors.
