We also recited Attahiyat together as a class. Most of the students already know it which is great!

Salaam,

Today we learned about the different types if rakaats in salah (fard, nafl, sunnah, wajib, witr) and we learned how many rakaats in each prayer, which ones are obligatory etc.

We learned about the difference between athan and iqama. Then we had different students perform salah steps, wudu steps, and names of different poses in salah. Most students already know Surah Fatihah and several short surahs so the next step is to memorize Attahiyat.

Next week, we will begin memorizing Attaiyat and focus on it for the next couple weeks as well as review of some daily duas.

Homework: Review your notes from today!

Salaam parents,

I handed back the graded tests today that they took before the Eid break. Most of them did great and they got a little reward for it.
We are done with the Islamic Studies book. For the next 4 weeks, we'll learn the different aspects of salah like wudu steps, names of 5 prayers, # of rakat, attaiyyat, what we say during each step of salah.
Today we reviewed wudu steps and names of the 5 prayers. I also asked them questions to gauge what level each student is on, some are beginners and some know the whole salah. I will try my best to get them all to atleast know the basics inshAllah by the end of the year.

Also, no more quizzes or tests but every class day there will be a participation grade and a score given for questions related to salah so make sure they review everything after class.

Homework: Review salah names, position names, and wudu steps.
