Assalamualaikum,

In class on January 21st, the students practiced reading, memorizing, and understanding the meaning of Quran.

I gave each student a Surah Ad-Duha Study Guide and students worked together to fill in the blanks in the study guide. I have linked the student copy and answer key to the study guide in this message. Next class, we will go over the pronunciation and meanings of the ayas in class from the study guide, so don’t forget to bring it next class and continue studying and reviewing it.

Students also learned tanween in Lesson 5 of the Noorani Qa'idah "Master Reading the Quran" book. Keep practicing this concept and reading from lesson 5 because tanween will appear on the next test.

Those that have not finished the Surah Ad-Duha Week 1 Worksheet should do so as soon as possible. I gave students that did not have a copy of it a copy in class today. I will link it to today's message, and don't forget to have a signature for each day of the week that the student completes this homework, so they can receive full credit! If the student loses the worksheet, they can still complete the assignment: they can just write their name, the name of the assignment, the days of the week, and the signatures for each day on any piece of paper and turn it in.

I also finished testing most of the kids on Surah Ash-Sharh. However, some kids were still absent and have not taken the test yet; they will take it the next time they are in class, so don’t forget to study using the Surah Ash-Sharh study guide from previous messages!

Most students have not yet completed the activity from last week: the assignment is to write down all 11 ayas of Surah Ad-Duha on a piece of paper. Students can choose to write the surah in Arabic or write it with the English pronunciation, but either way it should be hand-written. Students can use the Surah Ad-Duha study guide to help with this. No need to write the translations of the ayas. For example, for the first aya, students should either write وَٱلضُّحَىٰ or Wad duhaa, and then continue to do the same for the rest of the ayas. They should NOT just write "by the morning brightness," since they need to write down how the aya is pronounced in the Quran for this activity. However, students that write down BOTH the ayas of the surah and the translations of the ayas can receive extra credit. Either email me the paper or turn it in next class (January 21) to receive credit for this assignment.

Please feel free to email me (noorb2025@gmail.com) with any questions.

Asalam Alaikum everyone,

Due to inclement weather the school was closed on Jan 14th. We will be having a TEST next Sunday Jan 21st. It will be from Unit-B Chap 5,6. Kids should just give it a thorough read as it will be MCQ's based test.

JazakaAllah khair,

Meesha

Assalamualaikum,

Since there was no class in-person today, here is what the students should be doing.

Today's activitiy is to write down all 11 ayas of Surah Ad-Duha on a piece of paper. Students can choose to write the surah in Arabic or write it with the English pronounciation, but either way it should be hand-written. Either email me the paper or turn it in next class (January 21) to recieve credit for this assignment.

Since many students don't have school tomorrow, I suggest getting the activity done now while there's free time.

For last week's activity, I linked a fill-in-the-blank study guide for Surah Ad-Duha for the students to try to fill out. I will link the fill-in-the-blank copy and answer key to this message for the students to check their answers. Students should continue reviewing and memorizing the surah and its translations. In class, we will go over each aya, but faster than usual since the students have a lot of time now to review the surah by themselves.

December 17th, the last class before break, was the test for the memorization and meanings of Surah Ash-Sharh. Students that have not yet taken the test should take it next class, January 21st. I will link the answer key for the study guide to this message. Don't forget to study!

The students should also continue to practice reading Arabic in Lesson 4 of the Noorani Qa'idah "Master Reading the Quran" book, where they read harakat: fatha, doma, kasra.

Those that have not finished the Surah Ad-Duha Week 1 Worksheet from last week should do so as soon as possible. I will link it to today's message, and don't forget to have a signature for each day of the week that the student completes this homework, so they can receive full credit!

I am giving an extention for the Surah At-Teen and Surah Ash-Sharh worksheets. So, any students that have not yet completed Surah At-Teen Week 1 and Week 2 worksheets and Surah Ash-Sharh Week 1 and Week 2 worksheets can email them to me now or turn them in next class (January 21st) to still recieve credit. The four worksheets are linked in previous weeks' messages. Don't forget to have a signature for each day of the week that the student completes this homework, so they can receive full credit! If students lost their worksheets, they can just write the days of the week and get a signature for each day on a piece of notebook paper if this is easier than printing out another worksheet. Email me if you are unsure if your child has turned in these worksheets or not.

Please feel free to email me (noorb2025@gmail.com) with any questions.

Review the following questions. Answers are provided.

Surah Maun

1- Why is the belief in the Day of Judgment and hereafter emphasized in many verses and Hadith?

Believing in the day of judgement is one of the fundamental believes in Islam. Allah Subhana uta'la has mentioned numerous times about the hereafter to warn us, so that we prepare ourselves for the hereafter, where we will be accountable for everything we have done in this world. Allah has explained clearly how painful hereafter would be if we are sinful and how beautiful it would be if we are righteous. A successful hereafter is the driving force for us to go good in this world.

Surah Al-Quraiysh

1- what is the main theme of this surah?

The theme of the surah is to remind the Quraysh of the favors Allah has given them. Allah has given them safety and peace during their business travel to Yemen and As-shams from such as highway robbery. Allah has given them high status, safety, and no one dares to attack them or Makkah. People Knew what happened to Abraha(the king of Yemen) when he and the companions of the elephant came to destroy Kaaba.

2- How are we all millionaires?

The two most important blessings Allah has given us are Iman and health. Sometimes we take these things for granted.

The truth is even if we are poor, we would not trade our health/our limbs for millions of dollars. Our health is very precious to us. Muhammad (SAW) said if anyone wakes up with a roof on top, and healthy, and have food for only that day, it is as of he is in control of this life.s

Surah Alfeel

1- Why did the evil king want to destroy Ka’baa?

Abraha, the evil king of Yemen was very jealous that Makkah was the center of trade and people would go there for pilgrimage. He built a church to impress king Najashi and also planned to bring pilgrims to Yemen. But when an Arab heard that, he went to his church and defecated. This made Abraha very angry, so he took an army to destroy Kaaba.

Which animals were in his army?

He had elephants in his army.

2- what is the main lesson we learn from this surah?

Allah is the protector. Noone can harm or do anything to you if Allah has not willed that. This teaches us to have full trust in Allah.

The enemy came to destroy but He protected His house. He has the power to do anything. He destroyed the strong army with weak birds from the sky. This blessing to Quraiysh made other tribes not to think of attacking Kaaba.

What is the meaning of the following:

‎الفيل = the elephant

‎ربكَ =your Lord

‎طيراً = birds

‎حجارة = stones
