Dear Parents,

Assalamalaikum,

Hope you all are doing well. We had an interesting and different class last Sunday. All the students presented in the class on a topic related to Islamic Studies. Almost all the students were well prepared, had good content and presented well.

My goal behind such activities is to build public speaking and presentation skills in students while also teaching about Islam. Also if there are some students who are little on the shy side this would help them become comfortable with public speaking.

Homework for next week is for students to read the Last Sermon of the Prophet that was given on Mount Arafat (http://www.alhuda.sg/sermon.html) and then summarize the three key points of the sermon. So students will read the sermon and then make a list of three main things that have been said in the sermon.

Thanks,

Arshad

Dear Parents,

Assalamalaikum,

We covered two chapters from the book last Sunday and one of the chapters was "Respecting yourself". We also discussed that students should avoid the things in school or life that could harm their body.

For next week, students expressed a desire to take the class themselves. I think this is a good idea so I asked every student to prepare a lecture of at least 5 minutes on any topic that is related to Islamic Studies. This also would be the homework for this week:

Homework:

Every student would prepare a lecture of about 5 minutes on any topic related to Islamic Studies and present it in class.

Salat Stars worksheet:

Students did well last week in udpating the Salat Stars worksheet. I am hoping they would continue to do so this week as well.

Dear Parents,

Since we had so many canceled classes, I am teaching two letters each class to catch up on my lesson plan and I need your support at home. We covered the letters ain and ghayn today. Usually we take the time to trace and color the letters in the book in class but today we played a game to review previous letters. So please have your son/daughter complete these pages at home(pg 75-82). We will start a new Surah(Falaq) next week inshaAllah. Have them listen to Surah Falaq before they go to bed every day.

HW : Letter ain and ghayn color, trace, write and memorize Surah Al-Falaq

Thanks,

Dear Parents, Today we covered the concept of Masbooq (joining the jamaah after the prayer have already started). This is an important, yet not very intuitive subject. We went through various exercises to show students how the logic works. We’ll review it again in the coming weeks to make sure students get a full grasp of the subject. Please see the attached informational sheet.

Homework for February 17th: Describe how to complete the following prayers when you join the jama’ah in the second raq’ah of Magrib prayer and 3rd raq’ah of Isha prayer.
