Dear Parents,

Today we reviewed the salah related subjects that will be covered in our second test of the semester on Jan 5th (right after the break). We also talked about 4 types of salah (Fard, Wajib, Sunnah, Nafl) and gave examples for each. 

Test 2: Scheduled for Jan 5th. Study guide was handed out in the class. It is also attached to this announcement.

Assalamu alaikum, This Sunday we covered Unit B, Chapter 1, His Name Was Muhammad. Students who brought their projects also presented it in class. I handed out a study guide for the test we will have after the winter break. We played a game to practice all the questions from the test. Homework: Students have to cover the Exercises on Pages 22 and 23 from the workbook. Students will have their test on January 5, 2020. Test will be from the study guide that the kids have.( I have attached a link to the study guide below) They will also be tested on starting Salah with Takbeer and memorizing Thana (Subhana Kallahumma...) the complete day. Dear Parents,

Today we continued our discussion essentials of salah. We outlined 12 essentials (6 before salah, 6 during salah). Then we went over the brief duas/phrases we say during salah and discussed their meanings. We also assigned this as the homework for next week (see blow). Finally, we classified salahs into four categories. We'll continue our discussion on this subject next week.

Homework for Dec 15th: memorize the translation of the following duas we recite during salah:

  • Allahu Akbar - Allah is the greatest
  • A'udhu billahi minash shaijdanir rajim - I seek refuge in Allah from the cursed Satan (shaitan)
  • Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim - In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind
  • Subhana rabbiyal azim - Glory to my Lord, the Greatest
  • Sami allahu liman hamidah - Allah hears those who praise him
  • Rabbana lakal hamd - Our Lord, praise be to You
  • Subhana rabbiyal a'la - Glory to my Lord, the Highest

Today we de-briefed on the skit the students did at assembly a couple of weeks ago - they didn't they were as well prepared and wished they had more time. We also learned a few new names of Allah and the meaning of a few verses from surah Ali-Imran.
