ASA,

First off, congratulations to Azlan, Daiyaan, Faiz, Nermin, Tala & Zayna for completing Surah Al-Fajr! You can now move your mountain climber to the top of the first mountain. I really enjoyed listening to your recitations, they were truly from the heart! I’m excited to see what you’ll achieve with Surah Al-Ghashiyah next! For those who missed yesterday’s deadline, there’s still time until next week since I also missed class.

The "Manners in Islam" essay is due next week. Please make sure it is typed and carefully proofread before turning it in. Also, the play has been postponed to next week, giving our lead some extra time to work on her lines.

We’ve got a lot coming up, so stay focused and safe, and I’ll see you all in class next week, insha'Allah! - Jumana

*A big thank you to sister Rutaba for subbing yesterday's class! <3

Assalaamu Alaikum wrb

Welcome back! We started first 5 verses of Surah Ash Shams and discussed the story of Prophet Saleh AS and the people of Thamud.

The kids were very engaged in an open discussion, led by their questions regarding Islam and navigating queries from non Muslim friends (Christmas was a big topic today!) I plan on continuing to give them opportunities for these kinds of discussion throughout the year in shaa ALLAH.

I have also given them the option of anonymous submissions of questions they may have regarding Islam. I have some submitted already!

They turned in their canvases اسميع AS SAMI' (The All Hearing).

Homework:

Memorize first 5 verses of Surah Ash Shams.

Review test next week on recitation and content of Surah Al Alaq and Surah Al Layl, as well as Arabic words to know for both these Surahs (the red table on pages 94 and 118).

Family Project: Parents, please google images of the remains of the houses of the people of Thamud and show them to your kids- watch a short story with them about the story of Prophet Saleh AS and the people of Thamud. There are many available on YouTube.

Salaam parents,

Today we started with the presentations of the project I assigned before the break. The students who did not get it done today have been given one more week to do the project and present next week.

We also started a new unit on the messengers of Allah SWT. Today's chapter covered Ibrahim (AS) and we took some notes along with reading the chapter. We also did the crossword puzzle on page 116.

Homework: Please complete the questions at the end of chapter 13-Ibrahim (AS) on page 115. Also, next week is the last week I will allow project presentations so please help your child work on it.

Some additional notes I wanted to add:

1) If your child has lost their book, please ask the office for a replacement, you may have to pay for it.
2) Please make sure the student comes prepared for school with all the school supplies needed.

Assalamualaikum,

In class on January 5th, students played a review game to review for our test. The test will be next class, January 12th. Students should study the background, memorization, meanings of ayas, and vocabulary of Surah Ash-Sharh (everything in the study guide), and lessons 9 and 10 (and extra credit from lesson 11) in the Noorani Qa’idah book.

Students that have not yet turned in Surah Ash-Sharh Week 1 or Week 2 homeworks (linked to this message) should do so as soon as possible. For these assignments, students should either listen to or say the surah twice a day every day this week, and a parent/guardian signature is needed for each day that they do this so they can receive credit.

If students do not have either the "A Student's First Guide to Juz'Amma" book or the Noorani Qa'idah "Master Reading the Quran" book, please let the office know so that the student can get these books and be prepared for class.

Please feel free to email me (noorb2025@gmail.com) if you have trouble accessing any of the documents linked to my messages or if you have any questions!
