We reviewed The Harakat and we started lesson 9 on page 16
in Arabic book 

did some practic on Harakat on page 14 -15 as practice and review both Harakat Fat ha and Kasrah

we did also The Islamic Months I have video I showed 

so please dearly parents review with your kid what we covered today 

as an extra points 

I handed each one a color sheet to do a project on the Islamic Months it's in the Arabic book on pages page 71

for those kids who are struggling with reading Arabic there will be a lesson at 10 am provided by Ms May and imam Amro in the upcoming weeks 

we started Surat Al shams please review the first 4 ayahs with the kids

this upcoming Sunday :

the kids will join youth group for first period! I am sure many of them are excited about it.

Please review the Surah with your child every night. Next week is the last week for Surah AlFatiha and we will have an exam at the end of October inshallah

Assalamualaikum,

In class on October 15th, the students practiced reading, memorizing, and understanding the meaning of Quran, and reading Arabic.

I was not present in class on October 15, but I will list the lesson plan that I gave to the substitute to do with the students. The students started reading and memorizing the first three ayas Surah At-Teen on pages 111-112 of the "A Student's First Guide to Juz'Amma" book and read and understood the meanings of the ayas as well. The students also started practicing reading Arabic in Lesson 2 of the Noorani Qa'idah "Master Reading the Quran" book.

The homework for next class is to complete the Surah At-Teen Week 1 Worksheet, which I will link to this message. Don't forget to have a signature for each day of the week that the student completes this homework, so they can receive full credit!

Those that have not completed the Surah Al-Qadr memorization and meaning test yet will complete it next class Insha'Allah. The study guide is linked in previous messages.

In Today's class we covered:

1. Surah Al Alaq. We have completed this Surah. We had a quiz regarding the tafseer and the students did very well. I returned their quizzes, please take a look and encourage your kids!

2. Continued Surah presentations (Great job, Emaan!)

3. We started Tajweed, which focuses on proper pronunciation and etiquette of reading the Quran. We spoke about Makhaarij, the areas of the mouth where the Quranic letters originate. We started with 

ب - from the lips

م - from the lips

ف - from the lips 

و - from the lips (make a circle with your lips)

ث- tip of the tongue touches the edge of the upper teeth and blow with a light sound (DON'T SAY 'SAA')

ذ - tip of the tongue touches the edge of the upper teeth and blow with a strong sound (DON'T SAY 'ZAA')

ظ- same as ذ but the tongue rises to make it thick (AGAIN, NO 'SS' OR 'ZZ' SOUND)

 

Homework:

1. Continue to memorize Surah Al Alaq. Play Mishary or any other reciter of your choice for kids in the home, in the car. Children are excellent auditory learners. Listening to a Qari will also help with their tajweed.

2. They should be reading Ayat ul Kursi after every salah and at bedtime.

3. Pop quiz on tafseer of Surah Al Alaq next week for the students who were absent this week.

4. Practice the Makhaarij listed above.

Assalamualaikum,

In class on October 8th, the students practiced reading, memorizing, and understanding the meaning of Quran, and reading Arabic.

The students completed the Surah Al-Qadr Memorization and Meaning Test in class. Those that have an extention due to being absent should take the test as soon as possible, and I will link the test's study guide for those that have not taken it yet.

After the test, the students either started reviewing Surah At-Teen on pages 111-112 of the "A Student's First Guide to Juz'Amma" book or started practicing reading Arabic in Lesson 2 of the Noorani Qa'idah "Master Reading the Quran" book. Keep looking at these materials to be prepared for next class when we review them in depth!

If students do not have either the "A Student's First Guide to Juz'Amma" book or the Noorani Qa'idah "Master Reading the Quran" book, please let the office know so that the student can get these books and be prepared for class.
