I decided to use a small part of our class time too do something fun. This sunday we had story time. I brought in noor kids books for all the students and we sat in a circle and the kids enjoyed reading and sharing a few stories about what they read. Next week I asked the kids to bring their favorite board game and we will play a few games in small groups Insha Allah.

Dear Parents,

Today in class, we first reviewed all 11 letters learned up to this point and then I tested each student. I also tested them on Surah Kawthar and some students needed help when reciting. Therefore, I would like the students to practice reciting Surah Kawthar for next week. I did not assign any additional homework because I want them to focus on practing the Surah. Please take time with your daughter/son to practice.

If you have any question feel free to contact me.

Thank you,

Sibel Yasar

The project on five pillars of islam is due on 01/21. I apologize for the mix up with dates. The points for the project will go towards the grade for the spring semester instead of the winter semester. Starting 01/21 I will use some of my class time for kids to present their posters to the class.

Also on 01/21 I will send out a paper that will have instructions for Project #2 Insha Allah. Please look out for that. These projects are assigned months in advance in the hope that it will give you ample time to work on it. Please let me know if you have any questions. This second project will be due April 8th Insha Allah

Today we took TEST 2. We also covered the lesson on Four Khalifas. Homework is pages 72, 73. I urge parents to check your kids books to make sure all HW is completed up to page 73.

Next week is a review day. We will Insha Allah read through test questions and discuss any mistakes. We will also do a review on the Khalifas lesson. We will take an open book quiz on Khalifas since this lesson will not be included in TEST 1 next month. It is open book, kids will work together in groups.

On a lighter note, we missed each other during break and we talked about what everyone did during their time off from school. It was so enjoyable hearing about what your kids did and where they travelled. Thanks for letting them share their little stories with me :)

Assalamu Alaikum:

Today I listened to children recite verses 21 through 24 of Surah Al-Hashr for HW #8. Some of them slipped backwards (perhaps due to school being out for 2 weeks) but most had done their work. Please make sure to sign their HW sheets so they can earn the extra credit.

None of the students were ready to take Test 2 today, which is fine. However, this means there is only on class period on Jan 14 to take the test. Please make sure your child is not absent on that day. Test 2 will consist of reciting verse 21-24 of Surah Al-Hashr from memory.

There is also an "Art Project" related to Surah Al-Hashr and it is due on Jan 21. I have attached all the details; please review and let me know of any questions.

Laslty, please listen to your children recite Surah Al-Alaq at least once a week so they don't forget.

Best Regards,

Ishfaq Ahmad
