Assalamu Alaikum:

I gave a challenge to students last week that they should recite the verses from Surah Al-Baqarah (HW #11) three times every day for an entire week and have the parents sign the HW sheets. If they do that, they will get full credit for HW #11 even if they did not have the verses memorized.

There were very few students who acted on the challenge. Remember that this is the last HW on 3 verses from Surah Alb-Baqarah and they should have already memorized first two verses from earlier HWs. Anyway, I gave them another 2 weeks to memorize all 3 verses. There will be a test on these verses on March 4; those who still need another week, can take the test on March 11.

Our class is also scheduled for an assembly presentation on April 8. Both Islamic Studies and Quran class teachers decided that students can do short presentations on Beautiful names of Allah (SWT), about 12 names that were covered in last 3 verses from Surah Al-Hashr. Most students insisted to have a skit instead of short presentation. I have asked all students to come up with a short story that they can present as a skit by next Sunday to make sure we have enough information to do skits. The Islamic Studies teacher will send the list of names of Allah (SWT) assigned to each student. Please review and work with your son/daughter to come up with a story for their assigned name.

Let Sr. Zunaira or myself know if there are any questions.

Best Regards,

Ishfaq Ahmad
