Assalamu alaikum, 

        This Sunday we covered Chapter 4, The Books of Allah. We talked about how the other Books of Allah are not in their original form anymore and how Allah Protects the Qur’an and it will always remain in it's true form. We covered the question at the end of the chapter in class. We also went over Salah in class.  
 

Test: Students will have their test in two weeks, on Oct 19 from Unit 1, Chapters 1 through 4. Please help your kids study the chapters. We will also review them in class next week. 
Students will also be tested in Salah, how to perform 2 Rakahs, they don't need to know the dua after Durood as we are still working on it in class. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

After Surah Al Fatiha we reviewed Surah Qurish then Duaa Allahum Salli ( Assalawat Al Ibrahimeyah ) 

We did the Alphabet which most of the kids didn't know most of of it so we reviewed and practiced as a game and tried to connect Tow and three letters or more to make words with the Harakat 

I handed the The Islamic Months paper so they can memorize beside the video I sent to the Watts group

And practice on the Norani Qaida book pages 6-7-8

In class on September 28th, students completed more of Lesson 2 in the "Teach Your Child to Read Arabic" book and learned about hamza, taa marbouta, and alif maqsoorah.

Students also played a review game about Surah Al-Qadr and Lessons 1-2.

Next class, October 5th, is the first test. This test will cover everything from the Surah Al-Qadr study guide (memorization of the surah, meanings of ayas, vocabulary, background of the surah), and Lessons 1-2 in the "Teach Your Child to Read Arabic" book. Students should know how to pronounce the Arabic letters, and how the letters look if they are at the beginning, middle, or end of a word (this part will be less of a focus on the test since we will do more practice in class).

Students that have not completed the Surah Al-Qadr Homework Worksheet should do so as soon as possible (linked to this message).

This week we did Unit 1: Ch 2 Belief in Allah. We discussed the concept of Tawhid and Articles of faith. They did the questions at the end of the chapter and discussed their answers.

Over the next three weeks, students will be learning about the lives of three important prophets mentioned in Surah Al-Fajr and how their people transgressed:
-This week: Prophet Hūd (AS) and the people of ʿĀd
-Next week (in shaa Allah): Prophet Ṣāliḥ (AS) and the people of Thamūd
-Following week: Prophet Mūsā (AS) and Pharaoh (Fir‘awn)

We watched a short video on Prophet Hūd (AS) and discussed how the powerful nation of ʿĀd rejected his message and were destroyed due to their arrogance.

 * Homework for next Sunday:
Memorize and write Surah Al-Fajr, verses 6–8
Practice Norani Qaida – Lesson 2

 * Parent Signature Needed:
We had a pop quiz on Arabic letters. Students who scored below 7 need their parents to review the paper and bring it back signed next week.

Today we read “chapter 3: What does Allah do?” and answered the questions at the end. Students got to do some coloring afterwards, ask them to show you their artwork in their red books. 
We also reviewed the dua for before sleeping and what we say before and after eating.

**Homework: 
1) Read “Chapter 4: What does Allah not do?” and answer questions at the end on pages 44-45. 
2) Also, study for wudu steps quiz next Sunday on September 28th. It’s going to be the same worksheet they did last week but they’ll do it on their own for the quiz. So please help them study it. **

I strongly recommended that students attend the 10 o'clock Arabic class for extra practice and support.

Extra points will be awarded for:

Welcome to Level 4 Quran! In class on September 14th, students practiced ayas 1-3 of Surah Al-Qadr. I gave students a study guide (linked to this message) with the ayas, their meanings, vocabulary words, and the background behind the surah. The students will fill out this study guide each week as they learn more ayas. 

Students also completed Lesson 1 in the "Teach Your Child to Read Arabic" book. Each week, we will review a chapter from the book and then learn new content.

I also gave students the Surah Al-Qadr Week 1 Homework Worksheet (linked to this message). For this assignment, students can either listen to, read, or recite Surah Ad-Dhuha twice a day and get a signature for each day that they complete this to receive credit. This is intended so that they can visit the Quran every day and naturally become more familiar with the surah.

We went through Unit 1, Chapter 1 Why Islam ? What is Islam ? Answered the questions at the end of the chapter and discussed their answers.

Since last year a list of duas have been added to the curriculum, I sent a copy of the duas with the girls today. 

Our fist dua is "dua for entering the bathroom". Please ensure that they practice at home.
