Assalamu alaikum, This Sunday we covered the lesson on Salah. We talked about the five daily prayers and how important it is to pray Salah. In Salah we started with revising Takbeer and how we have to sand during Salah and we also started memorizing Subhana Kalahuma..... Homework: Students have to answer the questions at the end of the lesson Salah. Students also have to start memorizing Subhana Kalahuma..... a print out was sent home.

Students should know to recite" Subhanakallahuma wa bihamdika wa tabarakusmuka wataalla judduka wa la illaha gheruk”. Learning whole Salat for students is mandatory for this grade.

Dear Parents,

Today we covered lesson 7 (Compilation of Hadith). Students are expected to know the following from this lesson:

  • Vocabulary: Sunnah, Seerah, Hadith, Sahaba, Tabi'in, Taba Tabi'in, Sahih Sittah
  • Hadith is the second source of Islam behind Qur'an.
  • There are two parts to any hadith: (1) isnad (the chain of narration), (2) matn (actual text)
  • Know how hadith were collected
  • Know the names of six major books of Hadith

We also covered types of salah:

  • Fard: 2 types- fard ayn, fard kifayah) 
  • Wajib 
  • Sunnah: 2 types- strong vs weak 
  • Nafl

Finally, we demonstrated how to properly pray a 2-rakah salah.

Homework for Nov 12th: Read lesson 7 and answer the questions at the end of the lesson.

Today we conducted test 1 for those students who had not taken in last week. We also were able to do presentations by a few students but could not finish them due to time constraints and some technical issues with the TV. We will finish presentations next week (inshallah). If your child did not present today, please make sure they are ready to do so next week (inshallah).

Dear Parents,

 This week Sr. Dua  substituted for me. They had tested from Suratul Falaq. Insallah next week Suratul Nas will be introduced. However , if your child is still working on previous surah he / she can recite anytime and I can always change his grade. So please encourge and help your child to memorize the essential surahs.

Also, they did Noorani Qaidah lesson 2 up to line 5. 

HW: review the surahs your kid had already memorized  so they can make a habit and review Noorani Qaidah lesson 2 up to line 5.

Next week is parent - teacher confrence . A couple of parents have already signed up. If you did not sign up and would like to meet please let me know.

Assalamu Alaikum:

Only a few children took the test (Surah Al-Alaq) last week. I graded the tests for those students and asked them to have parents sign the test and bring it back next Sunday. 

If your child did not take the test past Sunday, he/she only have one more chance on Nov. 5. 

All students are also supposed to deliver their presentations on Surah Al-Alaq this Sunday (11/5). Those wanting to use their own devices will need to bring an Apple handheld (iPhone, iPad) or Mac (computer). These are the only devices that can be hooked up to the TV using AppleTV. Alternatively they can bring their presentation on a USB or email it to me the night before and then play it on my laptop.

AS Parents,

This week we had 30 min. class. So we did try to memorize Surah Falaq and did Arabic for beginners page 7.

Next week kids will be tested on Surah Falaq. Some of them already memorized but needs to master and some needs more help so please encourge them to memorize. If you think your child needs more time please let me know.

AA Parents,

Today Hafeez was the substitute teacher for my class. He covered the lesson on Steps of two Rakat Salah. This is page 150 of our Islamic studies book. 

We also completed our lesson on Steps of wudu. Kids were given a homework assignment on the steps of wudu, please complete at home. 

Kids were given an informational note about thier first project, this is due 01/18/18. If you did not get one of these papers I can pass those out again next week Insha Allah

There were some kids who did not take their test last week, so they took the test today. Therefore, all the kids will recieve the tests back next week and i will be entering grades sometime this week Insha Allah

Assalamu alaikum, This Sunday we had our first test. Kids who were absent will be taking their test next Sunday October 29, which is the last day to make up for the test. After the test we covered lesson # 7, Shahadah. We also covered the concept of Takbeer in Salah. Homework: Students have to cover the questions at the end of the lesson on pages 40 and 41. Also kids must practice saying Shahadah and will be asked to recite it in class. Parents are requested to go over the meaning of Shahadah with their kids. Project Students have their first project due on December 17, 2017. They can select one of the 5 pillars of Islam and write 5 facts about it. They can use any paper they like and decorate the way the want to. They just have to present it on paper as their project and read the facts in front of the class.
